On January 14, 2026, Elise Raphel moderated an investor relations panel at DLA Piper in New York City, sponsored by the GLG Alumni Association, Five States Energy, and DLA Piper. The panel featured senior investor relations executives from public companies including Duolingo and Pfizer, as well as private investment firms Jones Street, Mangrove Partners, and Rose Park Advisors.
The discussion highlighted shared priorities across corporate and alternative investment platforms, including a strong emphasis on investor service and responsiveness, deep understanding of investor needs and preferences, the strategic use of AI to enhance efficiency, and increasingly tailored investor communication. Panelists also observed that as cold calling and mass, impersonal outreach continue to lose effectiveness, the investor relations function is returning to its core strategy, focusing on trusted relationships and meaningful, in-person engagement.
Recognizing that there is no single, linear path into investor relations, panelists emphasized that the skills developed at GLG—along with relationships built with colleagues and clients—were instrumental in opening doors, advancing their careers, and leading to their next roles.
